Two or Three, One is week, two is strong three is stronger!

May 3, 2011

Ecclesiastes 4:12
12And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.

“Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” NLT

This chapter is mostly known because it values friendship and teaches us the power of being with a companion instead of being alone. According to the scripture there is greater reward for two than one.

The last part of verse 12 is an addition to verse 1 because it teaches a valuable secret to every successful relationship: the power of three.

Who is that third person? Is the bible talking about seeing two people at the same time? No, what the scripture means is two are better than one because one can help the other and vice versa. But when both are weak and attacked, they need a third person who is more strong to help them out. Adding that third person to the relationship makes it not easily broken. One can be broken alone, but with the help of another it is hard to be broken; but when both are in the verge of being broken the Third person will be the Helper so both are not quickly broken but will stand.

God is the Third cord for every relationship to succeed. Though your reward is great being two but you are not easily broken when God is the third person you both rely on daily.

Without God no relationship can stand, He is the piece of the puzzle that makes the threefold cord not quickly broken.
